I pass Furnace Creek Wash Road, which would be a shortcut to where I'm going today, except...

... it's a dirt road and it doesn't pass through Shoshone, where I need to stop for a big restaurant meal and fill up on water. It's the only restaurant for many, many miles. Besides, dirt roads are usually much slower than paved roads.

This Furnace Creek Wash Road becomes the Greenwater Valley Road, my destination today, where it crosses Highway 178.
